PLO Man – Anonymousmaterial

The hype surrounding Acting Press may have died down a bit in recent years, but the Berlin-based label is still putting out high-grade material - albeit at a far slower pace than it once was. The imprint's first outing of 2023 comes from co-founder PLO Man, who offers up - to borrow the title of the EP - 'anonymous material' in his distinctively trippy style. Opener 'Fig 001' sees him wrap psychedelic, undulating acid lines and hallucinatory electronics around a fizzing, snare-heavy beat, before 'Fig 015' mellows things out via delay-laden ambient motifs and mind-mangling sound design. 'Fig 002' is a bubbly, saucer-eyed slab of largely beat-free ambient techno goodness, while 'Fig 003' sounds like the kind of chill-out room friendly ambient head-trip that could have been made by Global Communication in 1994.
