Nizre – Detained

Nizre emerges from, it feels like, nowhere with a brilliantly accomplished EP of detailed techno. 'Detained' is a classic linear rhythm that's livened up with a searching, sonar-like pulse. 'Symbals Training' is similar - a tense rhythm and unresolved stabs that grip you in the heel and now and never let you go. 'One Layer' is darker, with foreboding low ends and synths stretched and pulled over the drums in an unsettling fashion. The final piece of the puzzle is 'Pulsing', another hypotonic cut that has only the most spare synth daubs, but it's enough to evoke plenty of mental imagery and keep the adrenaline high.
