Idealist – Hidden World

Some five years since his last outing on the imprint, long-serving swiss deep house and dub techno don Idealist makes a welcome return to Mojuba. It comes on the back of the artist reissuing his previously 'mysterious', three-part EP series as Details. Hidden World is impressively deep and atmospheric from the word go, with 'Mountain Lake' delivering an attractive blend of crunchy drum machine beats, stretched-out ambient chords, undulating and lightly dubbed loops, and eyes-closed female vocal snippets. 'Cycles' fixes these dusty, ultra-deep sonics and dub techno inspired sounds to a more hypnotic, locked-in groove, while '2156' is a body-moving deep house loop jam. Rounding off a fine EP is 'Immersion', a deep house lover's take on hissing dub techno headiness.
