Umek – The Rock Of Madness

Umek is one of the early architects of European techno. The Slovenian has now ascended to legend status but keep son Turing out new grooves with all the invention and impact of any of his younger peers. Next up is a return to his 1605 Music Therapy label. Three of the cuts are collabs with Polyvinyl - the hurried, slamming sounds of 'The Rock Of Madness', bouncy tribalism of 'Ragaga' and darker, more stripped back threat of 'Petardisimo'. With Hertz, he then cooks up 'Blades From The Ground', a blizzard of frazzled synths, closely stacked kicks and fuzzy industrialism for when the 'floor really just wants to be overwhelmed by sound.
