Regent – Arcane EP

Philippa Pacho's Phorum taps darkly euphoric Berlin prince Regent for 'Arcane', four anaphoric cuts with the same terse, tense precision that set apart his early projects on Hayes and Planet Rhythm. Regent arrived in Berlin after an early stint engineering sound for small theatres, a detail explaining his fondness for room-conscious stage dynamics and sudden control rotations, as though he were exploiting crust faults below the dancefloor. Like a lighthouse seen and heard through dense, sulfuric vogg, the lead stab on 'Infrascope' lets us hear and see where we otherwise wouldn't, while 'Finite Source' cools a precious base sonic core.
