Dold – Kompass

Producer and live artist Dold doesn't much about with this new EP on KEY. Across four loop-based tracks he goes in hard but funky. The first is all tight kicks and vast bass pumps beneath a weird hook. The second is just as fully charged, this time with a scratchy and edgy synth sound and twisted vocal yelp peeling off the pummelling drums below. Somehow the Swedish then ups the ante further with the dark moods of 'Loop 3' which is more minimal but not any less impactful and 'Loop 4' shuts down with some lush Detroit synth melodies shimmering over a more leggy and broken beat rhythm.
