Goutham & Jeremy – Revival EP

Over 18 months in their Manchester studio, Goutham & Jeremy pieced together a system that rejects the conveniences of modern production in favour of the restrictions that defined late 90s house, and what emerges is music that inhabits its source material, with grooves that breathe with the same humid swing and dubby pressure you'd expect from a record pulled from that era's racks. 'Revival' sketches the template with crisp hats and wiry percussion, while 'Wet Socks' leans into humour with an elastic bassline tugging against pads that feel like a shaft of sunlight across the floor. The flip is sparer: 'Swiss Exit' chisels the mix down to little more than kick, reverb and shadow, before '2nd Wind' restores momentum with rolling drums and a gauzy lift. By committing to a painstakingly period-accurate workflow, the duo proove that limitation can still be the source of vitality.
