Dj Jacuzziy – (I Have Never Been To) Ibiza

A trip to Ibiza can be a pilgrimage of sorts. South Korea-based artist Dj Jacuzziy aka S.O.N.S admits with this EP that he has never been there, yet manages to crank out three stellar cuts that would sound right at home echoing across the party island. This marks the second release of South Korean label Deep Water Coconuts, and is just as addictive as the first. 'Stoned At The Museum of Natural Sciences' features Sun, and sees a stabby bassline layered with rich textures and melodies. Here, the use of fleeting moments of silence in the build up is fascinating, and works a treat to store energy until the killer drop. On 'Blue Elephant', the ante is upped, with thick percussion providing a backdrop for echoed laughs and eerie melodies to take front and centre stage, before being smashed through with a booming kick drum. Finally, 'Far Out Mix' incorporates an infectious bassline amongst tribal percussion, topped with zippy horn segments, suggesting this track could the sort of tune whose ID is relentlessly being requested under Instagram clips from Circo Loco parties.
