Philip Chernikov – Green Directions

Sofia-based Philip Chernikov keeps his bio spare: "a regular guy who walks into a club and wants to hear a groove". Green Directions treads that same, second-guessworthy line - guess again, cos this EP ain't so regular-joe. Bass first, ego nowhere: After 2024's 'Laura' and 'In Between' EPs nudged him untoward a deeper selectors' radar, this fourth Down2Earth goes more ham. 'Bunda' and 'Can't Hold Back' bring radio-echo telecoms and chord reversions, flaunting trademark long releases and nice tail design, before 'Delusion' makes art of losing touch, as strange, throwing voices condescend yet entertain the listener. Finally, 'Tribalero' rounds out on another dubby, faintly tribal induction spiral worthy of any hypnotist, but in big tune form.
