Borrowed Identity – Reminisce EP

Earlier this year, Christian Soukup brought his Borrowed Identity project back to Quintessentials after nine years away. That time, he was in cahoots with regular collaborator Mechanical Soul Brother. On the 'Reminisce' EP, he's flying solo, in the process notching up a first 12" on the German label since 2016. Soukup first serves up title track 'Reminisce', a genuinely gorgeous chunk of bubbly, melody-rich deepness laden with space organ motifs and shuffling drums, before opting for a more bumpin' and loose-limbed sound on the thickset garage-house/deep house fusion of 'Thee Alarm'. 'Life's Running' sees Soukup combine his colourful new disco influences with classy early morning deep house vibes, while 'Osaka Morning Train' is dreamy, ethereal, melodious and genuinely ultra-deep.
